No monthly membership dues here! KAR offers free Book of the Month discussions along with a mix of free, low-cost, and ticketed experiences. Any cost will always be listed on the individual event page.

Coming solo is very common at KAR. We use name tags, conversation prompts, and thoughtfully designed activities to help take some of the pressure out of meeting new people. Whether it’s your first event or your fifteenth, you’ll have natural ways to start connecting.

Keep Austin Romantic is an 18+ community for Austin-area readers who enjoy romance books and romance-inspired experiences. You don’t need to be a genre expert or have attended a book club before.

Absolutely! Please have each guest complete their own RSVP when registration is required so we can plan accurately for the event.

Reading the book is encouraged, but life happens. You’re still welcome to join the BOTM event, just expect full-book spoilers during the discussion.

Yes. KAR is an 18+ community, and our conversations may include explicit language and mature themes. This allows romance readers to speak freely without self-censoring and gives our community, including parents, space to be present, have fun, and build friendships. Unless an event listing says otherwise, please plan to attend without children.
